As most of you know, OA is running a pilot project in Gulu, Uganda in May. Before the OA team takes off, we will count the number of 1 for 1 t-shirts sold.

The proceeds from every 1 for 1 shirt sold will be used to buy a soccer ball. That ball will be donated to an organization supporting at-risk and war-affected children in Gulu.

The ball count is on the 15th of April!

If you make a purchase on the OA Shop or in HtO on Broad St., in Victoria, before that date, your purchase will whisk a ball to Gulu and into the hands of a child.

Following the project, we will provide lots of media, so that you (and perhaps the lucky recipient of your gift!) can see the impact your purchase has made!

Just here to share a great article about OA that appeared in the Mount Royal Reflector, an on- and off-campus publication in Calgary.

On March 4th and 5th, one of Gerry Luton’s (a UVic ESL instructor) ESL classes came together to help raise funds (app. $1300!) and awareness for OA. They did this through giving presentations to the other 25 ESL classes, selling OA t-shirts, and by hosting a bake sale.

Min, one of the student organizers, said this: “It was a challenging and stressful assignment for us…but we were so happy because we could help children [who need it].”

They picked OA out a few Canadian organizations to support after they received a 30-minute presentation from OA on what our projects are about.

This is an awesome story and contribution from the OA community.

Thanks for sharing it Min, Gerry and the rest of the ESL class — and for supporting OA!

We have received an awesome pledge of support from LUSH that will guarantee the success of our pilot project, this April/May, in Northern Uganda!

We are still fundraising, though, and one of the ways is with a ‘Five by Five’ campaign. Five by Five works like this:
